LAHORE: Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. Usman Anwar has announced a significant initiative to support the higher education of children of police martyrs by issuing scholarships. This move is part of a broader effort to honor the sacrifices made by the police force and to ensure the welfare of their families.
According to a press release, educational scholarships totaling Rs12.5 million have been awarded to the children of martyrs from various districts, including Lahore. Specifically, Rs2 million in scholarships have been allocated to the children of Lahore police martyrs, while the remaining amount has been distributed to families of martyrs from other districts.
In addition to the district-based allocations, these scholarships also extend to children from various field formations such as the Punjab Highway Patrol (PHP), Traffic Police, Special Branch, Punjab Constabulary, Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), and Telecommunication. This comprehensive coverage ensures that the children of martyrs across all branches of the police force receive the educational support they need.
Dr. Usman Anwar emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating that nearly Rs1 billion will be invested in the educational welfare of police employees’ children this year. This substantial investment reflects the Punjab Police’s commitment to the long-term welfare of their personnel’s families. In addition to local educational scholarships, the IGP highlighted that talented and promising children of the police constabulary will be granted foreign scholarships to pursue education abroad, providing them with global opportunities and exposure.
“These educational scholarships will assist in the career development of the children of martyrs studying in renowned institutions,” the IGP noted. He emphasized that this initiative is not just a financial support program but a commitment to the future success and development of these children. By investing in their education, the Punjab Police aims to provide them with the tools and opportunities needed to achieve their career aspirations and contribute positively to society.
This scholarship program is a testament to the Punjab Police’s dedication to honoring the sacrifices of its martyrs and ensuring that their families are well taken care of. It reflects a broader vision of support and development for the next generation, ensuring that the children of those who have given their lives in service to the country have the opportunity to achieve their full potential.
