In an incident outside the Punjab Assembly on Wednesday, Lahore police arrested Aneela Riaz, a female PTI activist, for assaulting stage actor Tahir Anjum and tearing his clothes.
The arrest followed a complaint filed by Tahir Anjum, prompting law enforcement to register a case against Aneela Riaz and others involved.
Reports indicate that the altercation occurred as Tahir Anjum passed by the PTI hunger strike camp, where Aneela Riaz allegedly attacked him due to his critical social media posts about PTI Founder Imran Khan. The assault reportedly took place while Tahir Anjum was in his car.
Confirming the incident in an interview, Tahir Anjum expressed his intention to discuss potential legal actions with the leadership of PML-N, where he holds the position of cultural wing president. He stated, “I will decide on filing a case after consulting the leadership.”
Following the incident, Lahore police filed an FIR against Aneela Riaz and are preparing for further legal proceedings. The episode has drawn attention to the ongoing political tensions and activism surrounding the PTI hunger strike camp, underscoring broader issues within the political landscape.
The arrest of Aneela Riaz underscores the importance of maintaining civility and legality in political discourse, reflecting the challenges and controversies that can arise in highly charged environments such as political protests and public assemblies.
