This historic agreement signifies a new chapter in the bilateral relations between the two nations, according to Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko’s interview with TASS on Tuesday.
Rudenko explained, “On June 21, in Moscow, experts from legal and regional departments of our respective foreign ministries held highly productive consultations. These discussions led to the finalization of the treaty text, according to the Tehran Times report.
Following this, both sides have agreed to initiate the necessary internal procedures to prepare for signing an agreement within the framework of high-level bilateral interactions. We are optimistic that we will soon witness this truly historic event.”
He emphasized the significance of the document, saying, “The process of editing this substantial treaty, which is designed to elevate Russian-Iranian relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership, has taken nearly two and a half years. Today, we can declare the work complete.”
Adding to the anticipation, Iranian President-elect Masoud Pezeshkian, in a recent phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, expressed Tehran’s readiness to sign the agreement.
He said that the signing could take place during the BRICS summit in Kazan this year.
