Champions Trophy will proceed in Pakistan regardless of India’s participation, stated Hasan Ali

Pakistan fast bowler Hasan Ali recently addressed the ongoing debate regarding the Indian cricket team’s potential participation in the upcoming 2025 Champions Trophy, scheduled to be hosted in Pakistan.

Speaking on Samaa Digital’s program “Zor Ka Zor,” Ali echoed the stance of the Pakistan Cricket Board, emphasizing that the tournament should proceed as planned, regardless of India’s decision.

Ali acknowledged the interest of Indian players in participating but highlighted that their presence ultimately hinges on decisions made by the Indian government and the Board of Control for Cricket in India. He underscored PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi’s steadfast assertion that Pakistan will indeed host the Champions Trophy 2025, irrespective of whether India chooses to participate or not. Ali maintained, “If India chooses not to come, then that’s their decision.”

Conversely, the BCCI has expressed reservations about sending the Indian team to Pakistan, citing governmental restrictions as the primary barrier. As an alternative, Indian officials have proposed exploring a hybrid model or considering a neutral venue to facilitate the tournament.

Despite the uncertainties surrounding India’s participation, Hasan Ali expressed optimism about the tournament’s success. He asserted that cricket will continue to thrive regardless of India’s involvement, suggesting that if teams like Pakistan can travel and compete amid security concerns, the Indian team should be able to join as well.

Ali’s comments reflect the complex dynamics and diplomatic considerations intertwined with cricketing events between the two neighboring nations, highlighting the broader implications of sports diplomacy in the region.
