Imran Khan’s Life in Danger, Says Wife Amid Escalating Legal Battles

Former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s life is at risk, according to his wife, Bushra Bibi, amid ongoing legal battles following the events of May 9. Speaking informally to reporters at Adiala Jail, she expressed grave concerns for their safety. “Imran Khan has been poisoned in the past. I’m making these statements public because I’m uncertain of my own survival,” Bushra Bibi stated.

Imran Khan was rearrested in connection with over a dozen cases related to the incidents of May 9, shortly after a court overturned his conviction in the “unlawful marriage case” last week. The couple now faces additional charges in a new state gifts case, which Khan and his party allege are politically motivated.

On Monday, an anti-terrorism court in Lahore granted a 10-day physical remand of Khan concerning several May 9 cases. During a hearing for the state gifts case, Khan appealed to the accountability judge, urging them to imprison him while releasing his wife. “You are accountable to Allah, not the ISI,” Khan told the judge.

The former prime minister and his supporters argue that the numerous cases against him are part of a politically driven agenda to undermine his position and discredit his party. Bushra Bibi’s statements highlight the couple’s fears for their lives amidst this tumultuous period.

The developments follow a series of legal challenges and controversies surrounding Khan, who has been a significant political figure in Pakistan. His rearrest and the new charges against him have intensified the political climate, with allegations of government misuse of power for political gain.

Bushra Bibi’s remarks underscore the heightened tension and the perceived dangers faced by the former prime minister and his family. As the legal proceedings continue, the situation remains fraught with uncertainty and potential risks for Imran Khan and his wife.
