In Ziarat, Balochistan, tragedy struck on Wednesday when a vehicle carrying tourists from Quetta met with a fatal accident, resulting in the death of five individuals and injuring two others, as reported by news citing police officials.
Rescue teams swiftly responded to the incident on the Domera-Ziarat road, transporting the deceased and injured to the nearby District Headquarters Hospital. The victims, all originating from Quetta, had been visiting Ziarat on a tour, according to local authorities.
This incident adds to a series of recent road accidents involving tourists across Pakistan. Earlier this month in Chitral, two tourists lost their lives and three were injured in a car accident in Ashrit, reportedly due to road damage near the Lowari tunnel. Local residents have highlighted the hazards posed by the 18-kilometer unfinished road leading to the tunnel.
On July 12, another accident occurred in Islamabad’s Daman-e-Koh area, where a tourist van from Gujrat overturned due to brake failure, injuring ten occupants. Fortunately, the van avoided falling into a ravine, and the injured were promptly taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
These incidents underscore the pressing need for improved safety measures and infrastructure across Pakistan’s roads, ensuring the protection of both tourists and local residents. As investigations into the causes of these accidents continue, communities mourn the lives lost and advocate for enhanced precautions to prevent future tragedies.
