The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a cautionary alert for heavy rainfall expected across various districts of Punjab starting tonight. Residents are strongly urged to take necessary precautions to ensure their safety and safeguard their property.
Director General Irfan Ali Kathia expressed significant concerns, especially regarding the potential impact on upcoming Muharram processions. Emphasizing safety measures, Kathia called upon procession organizers to prioritize precautionary steps in light of the anticipated severe weather.
“We anticipate widespread heavy rainfall across multiple districts of Punjab beginning tonight,” Kathia remarked. “To prevent any unfortunate incidents, it is crucial for individuals to maintain a safe distance from electric poles and wires. Moreover, gathering on unstable roofs should be strictly avoided.”
Additionally, the PDMA has issued a specific flood warning for the mountainous regions of Dera Ghazi Khan. Residents residing near river channels are advised to remain vigilant and take proactive measures to protect their homes and belongings from potential flooding.
In preparation for heightened risks during the 8th and 9th of Muharram, rescue agencies have been placed on high alert. This precaution aims to ensure swift response and assistance in case of emergencies triggered by the anticipated heavy rainfall.
The PDMA’s advisory underscores the importance of preparedness and community cooperation in mitigating risks associated with severe weather conditions. Residents are encouraged to stay informed through official channels and to adhere strictly to safety guidelines issued by local authorities.
As the situation unfolds, continued monitoring and adherence to safety protocols will be essential in minimizing the impact of the forecasted heavy rains on public safety and infrastructure across affected areas of Punjab.
