PCB To Take Action Against Shaheen Afridi Amidst Alleged Misconduct

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to take action against national fast bowler Shaheen Afridi over alleged misconduct, potentially excluding him from the upcoming crucial series against Bangladesh. Sources indicate that the PCB is also considering disciplinary measures against two to three other players.

In response to the team’s disappointing performance at the T20 World Cup, domestic performers are expected to be given opportunities in the Bangladesh series, replacing players facing disciplinary issues.

During meetings with PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, coaches accused Wahab Riaz and Abdul Razzaq of showing favoritism towards certain players, who allegedly underperformed. Afridi reportedly exhibited poor behavior towards team management and coaches during the World Cup, prompting an investigation into why no action was taken at the time.

Former cricketers have met with PCB chairman to discuss strategies for improvement amidst reports of factions within the team and concerns about professionalism.

While Shaheen Afridi has not commented on the matter, Wahab Riaz denied allegations of pressuring the selection committee in a statement, despite subsequently being removed from his roles in team management and selection committees for both men’s and women’s teams.
