govt authorized Rs4 billion project to modernize Polyclinic Hospital

July 09, 2024 (MLN): The Ministry of Health has announced the approval of a Rs4 billion PC-1 project aimed at upgrading Polyclinic Hospital, according to a press release issued today. This initiative marks a significant step towards enhancing healthcare services.

The project will introduce state-of-the-art medical equipment and technology at Polyclinic Hospital (FGPC), thereby improving diagnostic and treatment capabilities. Additionally, the main building of Polyclinic Hospital, along with MCH Aabpara, G-7/3, G-7/4 dispensaries, and hostels, will transition to solar power as part of this endeavor.

One of the key highlights of the project includes the installation of a modern cath lab at Polyclinic Hospital. This facility will offer specialized procedures such as ablation, angiogram, angioplasty, and stenting, enhancing cardiac care services within the hospital premises.

Malik Mukhtar Ahmed, Coordinator to the Prime Minister on National Health Services, emphasized that upgrading old biomedical machinery with advanced equipment will further bolster the hospital’s capacity to deliver effective medical treatments.

Moreover, the shift towards renewable energy is expected to yield significant energy savings and reduce financial burdens on the government.

This initiative underscores the Ministry’s commitment to sustainable healthcare practices and energy efficiency across public healthcare facilities. Ahmed reaffirmed the government’s dedication to improving hospital infrastructure and performance nationwide, ensuring that citizens receive high-quality medical care.

Out of the total project budget, Rs2 billion has been allocated for the fiscal year 2024–25, reflecting the government’s phased approach towards implementing this comprehensive healthcare enhancement plan at Polyclinic Hospital.
