Amir Mughal, the Islamabad chapter president of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, was arrested just ahead of the party’s planned power show in the federal capital, as reported by on Thursday.
According to details provided by Amir Mughal’s counsel, Asim Baig, the PTI leader was apprehended outside the DC office in Islamabad.
Previously, the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) had granted bail to PTI leader Amir Masood Mughal, who faced terrorism charges filed at the Karachi Company police station.
The Islamabad district administration had authorized PTI to hold a power show at Tarnol Chowk on July 6.
However, Amir Masood Mughal had filed a petition challenging the issuance of the NOC in the Islamabad High Court, which was subsequently dismissed.
During the court proceedings, Justice Babar Satar acknowledged that the administration had already given permission for the rally and advised PTI not to escalate the situation further. PTI’s lawyer, Shoaib Shaheen, argued about inadequate time for rally preparations.
In response, Justice Satar remarked that PTI, being a significant political entity, had the capability to organize the event efficiently within a short timeframe.
The arrest of Amir Mughal ahead of the planned demonstration adds tension to the political atmosphere in Islamabad, amidst ongoing legal battles and administrative approvals for public gatherings. PTI continues to navigate these challenges as it prepares for its scheduled power show at Tarnol Chowk, aiming to assert its presence and mobilize support in the capital city.
