Seven Pakistani cricketers, including captain Babar Azam, Asif Ali, Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Rizwan, Iftikhar Ahmed, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Mohammad Nawaz, are set to participate in the Global T20 Canada 2024 tournament.
Scheduled from July 25 to August 11, the fourth edition of the Global T20 Canada will feature six teams. Babar Azam, Asif Ali, Amir, and Rizwan will represent the Vancouver Knights. Shaheen Shah Afridi and Mohammad Nawaz will play for the Toronto Nationals, while Iftikhar Ahmed will join the Bangla Tigers Mississauga.
These players were also part of Pakistan’s squad for the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024, where the team failed to advance to the Super 8 stage and returned home.
The league will include international stars such as Mohammad Nabi, Sunil Narine, Shakib Al Hasan, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, David Wiese, Hazratullah Zazai, David Warner, and Carlos Brathwaite.
The Vancouver Knights won the inaugural edition of the league in 2018, while the Winnipeg Hawks claimed the title in 2019. Montreal Tigers are the defending champions, having won the 2023 title by defeating the Vancouver Knights in the final.
