Kangana Ranaut
Indian actor-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut, who secured victory in the recent election, recounted an incident where she claimed to have been slapped by a security officer at Chandigarh airport.
In a video shared on her social media platforms, she assured her well-wishers of her safety and wellbeing.
Ranaut, who emerged victorious from Mandi in Himachal Pradesh, expressed her shock over the altercation, stating that the incident occurred during a security check.
According to her, after completing the security procedure, a CISF officer verbally abused her and physically struck her face.
Ranaut alleged that when she questioned the officer’s actions, she was told it was in support of the ongoing farmers’ protest.
Her victory in the Lok Sabha polls was significant, with Ranaut securing over 74,000 votes more than her closest opponent from the Indian National Congress.
However, the reported assault at the airport drew attention and sparked controversy.
While Ranaut claimed that the assault was politically motivated and linked to her stance on the farmers’ protest, Indian media reports provided a different perspective.
According to these reports, the CISF constable involved, identified as Kulwinder Kaur, allegedly slapped Ranaut after she refused to comply with security procedures by placing her phone in the tray at the checkpoint.
Footage circulating on social media purportedly captured a heated exchange between Ranaut and the CISF personnel.
Reports indicated that Ranaut subsequently lodged a complaint with the CISF director general upon arriving in New Delhi.
Kaur, the CISF constable, justified her actions by referencing Ranaut’s past remarks, particularly regarding the farmers’ protest.
She claimed to have felt triggered by Ranaut’s comments, alleging disrespect towards farmers.
The incident reignited discussions about Ranaut’s previous controversial statements and social media posts, particularly those related to the farmers’ agitation.
