ISLAMABAD: The federal government has submitted documentary evidence to counter claims made by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan that he is being kept in solitary confinement in Adiala jail.
During a hearing on the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) law amendments, Imran Khan had informed Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa that, “They (jail authorities) do not let me meet my legal team. I am being kept in solitary confinement here. I neither have any material nor a library to prepare for the case.” A glimpse of separate kitchen for former prime minister Imran Khan.

He made these claims via video link on May 30, asserting that his legal team was being denied access to him.
To address these claims, the government presented evidence showing that Khan, a former prime minister, is provided with facilities far beyond what a common prisoner could expect. Below are the exercise chair and exercise bike.

The photos shared with the court revealed that Khan has access to an exercise bike and stretching belt for physical fitness, books, a separate kitchen with a special menu, an exclusive gallery for walking, an LED, a room cooler, and a study table. In the detailed document submitted to the court, the government included not only photos of these facilities but also a list of all the people who have visited Khan.
The submission also suggested that the court could appoint a judicial officer to verify the facts presented.
“It is, therefore, respectfully prayed that the instant application be allowed and the additional documents be placed before this Court for the record,” the government added.
