Sarabjeet Khalsa, the son of Beant Singh, one of Indira Gandhi’s bodyguards who assassinated her in 1984, is making a name for himself in the Faridkot parliamentary constituency. During his campaign, Sarabjeet has been striking a chord with rural voters by emphasizing his Sikh heritage and his family’s legacy.
By highlighting his father’s act of avenging the 1984 attack on the Golden Temple, Sarabjeet has managed to tap into the strong emotions and sentiments of the Sikh community. This emotional appeal has resonated with the voters, particularly in the rural-dominated border constituency.
