Karachi Airport
KARACHI: At least 52 Pakistanis were deported from seven different countries and arrived at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport. These deportations were due to various reasons, including overstaying, illegal residency, and other immigration issues.
The deported individuals came from countries such as Saudi Arabia, the United States, Sweden, Oman, the United Arab Emirates, and others.
Among the deportees, three individuals arriving from Saudi Arabia and the United States were arrested upon their arrival in Karachi, while the others were allowed to return to their homes.
Sources within the immigration department revealed the reasons for the deportations. Two individuals, who had been blacklisted by Saudi Arabia, were sent back to Pakistan.
Another 11 individuals were deported for overstaying their visas in the Kingdom, nine were sent back due to complaints from their sponsors, and seven others were deported for losing their passports or visas.
Additionally, two individuals were deported from Saudi Arabia for alleged involvement in drug smuggling and begging, while 11 others faced deportation for a range of other issues.
Further, one Pakistani national was deported from Sweden for staying in the country illegally, and two individuals were sent back from the United States for illegal entry and losing their passports.
One Pakistani was also deported from Oman for visa expiration, while two overstayers from the UAE were returned to Pakistan for similar visa-related issues.
Alongside these deportations, three children born to Pakistani parents in Nepal, Saudi Arabia, and Malawi were sent to Pakistan using emergency travel documents.
The immigration department also intercepted 13 passengers who were attempting to fly abroad. These included Umrah pilgrims who were offloaded for failing to provide advance hotel bookings and sufficient funds for their trip.
Additionally, several passengers were intercepted due to missing or inadequate travel documents, including Wasim Abbas, who was traveling to Qatar, and other passengers attempting to go to destinations like Oman, Azerbaijan, Italy, and Benin.
The staff of the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Immigration Cell continued to monitor and enforce regulations by halting travelers who did not meet the necessary requirements for travel, such as lacking visa documents or required permits.
The ongoing efforts at Karachi’s airport reflect strict immigration controls, as authorities continue to address the growing issue of illegal immigration and non-compliant travel practices.
