Famous Indian actor Achyut Potdar, remembered most fondly for his role as the strict professor in the Bollywood blockbuster 3 Idiots, passed away in Mumbai at the age of 91.
According to Indian media reports, Potdar had been undergoing treatment at Jupiter Hospital after developing health complications. Despite medical efforts, he could not recover. His last rites were performed in Mumbai on Tuesday. While the family has not confirmed the exact cause of death, it is believed that age-related complications played a key role in his decline.
Potdar’s performance in 3 Idiots (2009) earned him widespread acclaim and a special place in the hearts of cinema lovers. His stern but humorous dialogue delivery, especially the now-famous line “Arre, kehna kya chahte ho?” became an instant fan favourite, spawning memes and remaining a part of Bollywood pop culture more than a decade later.

Achyut Potdar’s career was both prolific and versatile, spanning several decades and more than 125 films across Hindi and Marathi cinema.
