ISLAMABAD: At least 177 militants have been killed in the intelligence-based operations and clashes in Balochistan in the past three days.ย According to the security officials, 22 more terrorists have been shot dead in Balochistan, raising the total number of militants killed over the past three days to 177.
Intelligence agencies, police, and the military are intensifying operations against terrorists and their facilitators across the province.
Operations Target Fitna al-Hindustan Terror Network
The ongoing sanitisation operations are focused on members of the India-sponsored Fitna al-Hindustan group, with reports of additional casualties expected as actions continue. Defence Minister Khawaja Asif had announced on Sunday that security forces had neutralised more than 150 militants in Balochistan during recent operations.
The counter-terror campaign follows coordinated attacks carried out by the outlawed Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) across 12 towns on Saturday. The attacks targeted civilians in Quetta, Mastung, Nushki, Dalbandin, Kharan, Panjgur, Tump, Gwadar, and Pasni. At least 31 civilians and 17 security personnel were martyred, Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti confirmed during a Geo News programme.
Clarifying earlier reports, CM Bugti stated the number of attackers did not exceed 200โ250, with most either eliminated or driven out. He emphasised that Balochistanโs security challenges are not political and require a military response. Bugti also estimated the province hosts between 4,000 and 5,000 terrorists, sympathisers, and facilitators.
CM Bugti rejected claims linking terrorism solely to deprivation, explaining that militants often blend with civilian populations, forcing security forces to conduct precise operations. He highlighted that Afghan nationals were reportedly involved and that terrorists used a variety of weapons. He further noted that authorities avoided heavy firepower to prevent civilian casualties, underlining a commitment to measured action despite threats.
The province remains on high alert as security forces continue targeted operations to dismantle terrorist networks and restore stability across Balochistan.
