Three-Year Relief Package Finalized
The federal government is set to launch a major reduction in electricity prices for agricultural and industrial consumers.
Officials confirmed that the plan, designed as a three-year relief package, aims to promote energy use and ease financial pressure.
The Power Division has finalized the proposal and will soon present it to the prime minister for approval.
A formal announcement is expected in the coming days.
Electricity Rates to Drop Significantly
Under the proposed plan, electricity rates for agricultural and industrial users will drop to Rs23.50 per unit.
For additional consumption, the rate will range between Rs22 and Rs23.50 per unit.
Currently, agricultural consumers pay Rs38 per unit, while industrial users pay Rs34 per unit — among the highest in the region.
Goal: Boost Economic Growth and Energy Use
Officials say the government’s mission is to encourage higher electricity consumption by reducing overall costs.
Lower tariffs will help decrease production expenses for factories and farms, improving competitiveness and profitability.
The government expects this measure to stimulate growth, create jobs, and strengthen export-oriented industries.
Focus on Sustainable and Predictable Pricing
Sources confirm that the relief package will ensure pricing stability for the next three years.
The initiative aligns with the government’s long-term strategy to support sustainable growth in key sectors.
By targeting agriculture and industry, the plan aims to drive productivity and expand Pakistan’s economic base.
