About 14 judges of the Lahore High Court and Islamabad High Court will be transferred to other provinces. A detailed list prepared under the 27th Constitutional Amendment indicates the transfer of 10 Lahore High Court judges and 4 Islamabad High Court judges to other provinces.
According to officials, the proposed transfers will assign judges to various provincial benches for periods ranging from six months to two years. The plan aims to redistribute judicial responsibilities across multiple regions under the amended constitutional framework.
Most recommended transfers involve postings to the Balochistan High Courtโs Zhob bench. However, several judges may also move to the Sindh High Courtโs Larkana, Sukkur, and Mirpurkhas benches. Sources add that these locations were selected to address workload and administrative requirements.
The Judicial Commission of Pakistan will hold final authority over the transfers. It is expected to review the proposed list soon and decide on its implementation. The commissionโs approval will determine the fate of all recommended movements.
With the enactment of the 27th Amendment, authorities no longer require consultation with the concerned judge before inter-provincial transfers. Therefore, after the commissionโs reconstitution, 14 judges from the Lahore High Court and Islamabad High Court are set to shift to various provincial benches nationwide.
The Lahore High Court judges proposed for transfer are Justice Shams Mehmood Mirza, Justice Faisal Zaman Khan, Justice Shahid Karim, Justice Sajid Mahmood Sethi, Justice Asjad Javed Ghural, Justice Tariq Saleem Sheikh, Justice Asim Hafeez, Justice Amjad Rafiq, Justice Anwar Hussain, and Justice Raheel Kamran Sheikh.
Similarly, four Islamabad High Court judgesโJustice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan, Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri, and Justice Babar Sattarโare also suggested for transfer to other provinces.
Officials confirm that a meeting of the newly reconstituted Judicial Commission will convene soon. During this session, members will vote on the proposed transfers, and the majority decision will be implemented.
