Deadly Attack in Quetta
At least 10 people lost their lives and 33 others sustained injuries after a suicide bombing struck near the Frontier Corps (FC) Headquarters in eastern Quetta on Tuesday. The explosion caused panic across Model Town and nearby localities, which are regarded as sensitive zones.
Impact of the Explosion
The blast was so powerful that it shattered windows of nearby homes and commercial buildings. Residents reported hearing the deafening sound across a wide area. Security sources later confirmed that the militant group ‘Fitna Al Hindustan,’ allegedly backed by India, carried out the attack.
Attack Details and Security Response
According to officials, the suicide bomber wore an FC uniform and was accompanied by five armed terrorists. After the initial blast, security forces responded immediately, launching an operation against the attackers. All six terrorists, including the suicide bomber, were killed in the gun battle. However, two FC personnel suffered injuries during the exchange of fire and explosion.
Casualties and Emergency Response
Balochistan Health Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakar confirmed 10 fatalities, stating that five victims died instantly while five others succumbed during medical treatment. In addition, 33 people sustained injuries of varying severity.
Following the attack, emergencies were declared at Civil Hospital Quetta, BMC Hospital, and the Trauma Centre. On the directions of the Health Minister and Health Secretary, all consultants, doctors, pharmacists, nurses, and paramedical staff were placed on duty to manage the crisis.
Ongoing Situation
Authorities have cordoned off the area and launched an investigation into the bombing. Security has been further tightened across Quetta to prevent any additional attacks. The tragic incident underscores the continuing threat of militant groups targeting sensitive installations in the region.
