ISLAMABAD: The federal government will begin distributing one lakh laptops to talented and deserving students under the Prime Minister Youth Program today. The inaugural ceremony will take place at the Jinnah Convention Center in Islamabad, marking the official launch of the nationwide initiative.
According to the details, online applications were invited from students across Pakistan for the scheme. Government and private universities prepared merit-based lists to ensure transparent selection. Laptops will be distributed purely on merit among one lakh intelligent and capable students.
Provincial Ceremonies to Follow
After the Islamabad ceremony, similar laptop distribution events will be organised in the provincial capitals. These events will be held under the framework of the Prime Minister Youth Program to ensure equitable participation of students from all regions.
Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan, emphasised that empowering the youth remains the government’s top priority. He said various facilities and opportunities are being extended to young people, especially in education, to help them play an active role in national development.
Continuation of Nawaz Sharif’s Initiative
The laptop scheme was originally launched during former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s tenure to promote digital literacy among students. Since its inception, thousands of students nationwide have received laptops, enabling them to enhance their academic performance and digital skills.
The latest phase of the program aims to further strengthen educational access and technological inclusion among Pakistan’s youth.
